73 days — 'Danvers 126' does well in most soils. The roots are uniform orange-red in color and seven to eight inches long. The plant tops are large, reaching about fifteen inches, and are heat tolerant. Developed for home and market growers. Good for fresh eating as well as for canning and processing.

Bred by the Eastern States Farmers Exchange, West Springfield, Massachusetts from selections of heat resistant strains of 'Danvers' and improved for better interior color, smoother skin, better uniformity and better yield. Released in 1947.[1,2]

The original parent, simply named 'Danvers', was developed by carrot growers in the Danvers, Massachussetts area and first listed commercially in the 1871 Schlegel, Everett & Company's seed annual.[1] Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 650 seeds.
