Laurentian Rutabaga (Swede)

120 days — 'Laurentian' is an improved variety of 'American Purple Top. The roots are large with purple skin at the top and a creamy color at the bottom. The flesh is fine-grained and sweet flavored. They can be boiled and mashed and used as a nice, healthy alternative to mashed potatoes. They can also be added to soups and stews.

Plant in summer for fall and winter use. 'Laurentian' was bred and introduced by the Agronomy Department, Macdonald College, Quebec, Canada.^[1] Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 250 to 300 seeds.
