St. Valery
80 to 90 days — Also known as 'James Scarlet.' The roots are smooth, bright orange-red and grow ten to twelve inches in length. They are exceptionally sweet and tender. Like most carrot varieties, 'St. Valery' grows best in light, sandy soil.
Documented as early as 1883 by Vilmorin Seeds of France, although they stated at the time that this was already an old variety. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 400 seeds.
